The cava producer Codorníu in the Catalonian Sant Adurní d'Anoia wants to lay off ten percent of its workforce. The "Weinwirtschaft" reports that this is around ten percent of the workforce, based on information from the Spanish media. According to the daily "La Vanguardia", 43 people at the headquarters in Sant Adurní d'Anoia are affected, 26 people in production and ten employees in Raimat.

For the workforce, this is the second restructuring in two years. In 2017 Codorníu had already laid off 71 people. Now Codorníu wants to make the work at the headquarters more effective and concentrate on the work in his own vineyards. In the future, the focus will be on cava quality. In addition, the company wants to push ahead with the expansion of its brands.

In October 2018, the US investment group Carlyle bought a 55 percent stake in Codorníu Raventós for 390 million euros. Shortly thereafter, it succeeded in reducing the board of directors from eleven to five members.
