Strategic reorientation of the two guides planned

Munich-based ZS Verlag will take over the Gault&Millau wine guide and the restaurant guide for Germany from autumn 2017. ZS thus replaces the previous licensee Christian Verlag. ZS Verlag announced that a "long-term licensing partnership" has been agreed with the French licensor. Britta Wiegelmann was appointed as the new editor-in-chief of the wine guide. She completed her wine education at the Faculty of Oenology at the University of Bordeaux and worked for the magazine "Vinum" for a long time, where she was head of the editorial department for three years.

According to the publishing house, the current editor-in-chief Joel Payne will "continue to act as publisher", the second editor-in-chief Carsten Henn will give up his position. According to as yet unconfirmed information, most of the tasters are also to have terminated their activities.

Patricia Bröhm, editor-in-chief of the Gault&Millau Restaurant Guide since 2012, will continue her work, however. She has been writing about food and wine as a journalist for 20 years.

Carina Rey will be responsible for the conceptual reorientation in her function as Commercial Director of Gault&Millau Germany. In this function, she will "further develop the brand in close partnership with restaurateurs, winemakers and brand partners". Over the past 15 years, she has been in charge of the publishing house's brand communication and was responsible for German Playboy as Deputy Publishing Director.

According to ZS Verlag, the strategic development of the brand will be worked out for the German market in the coming weeks. The aim is - following the French model - to "push forward the dynamic expansion of Gault&Millau into new business areas". The guides are to "develop from a print edition into the leading multimedia premium platform for all enjoyment topics".
