Winzer Krems, Austria's largest quality wine producer, has for the first time in its history achieved more than 50 percent of its total turnover with exports. A total of 51.7 per cent was generated abroad, according to a press release. The main share of the export market is supplied to Germany, followed by the Netherlands and the USA. The Far East and Eastern Europe, especially Russia, are now also important.
Winzer Krems, with 90 employees, is owned by 900 producers from the Wachau and Kremstal wine-growing regions, who cultivate an area under vines of 1,200 hectares. The most important grape varieties are Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Muskateller and Zweigelt.
