The "Wild Palatinate" will be the focus of the German Wine Route Adventure Day on Sunday, August 27, 2017, which will focus on the unspoilt nature in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Palatinate, game and unusual leisure activities, the Pfalzwein e.V. announced. A record attempt is also planned: The - arithmetically - longest game bratwurst is to be produced, prepared and consumed by butchers who process game meat and as many wineries, innkeepers and clubs along the route as possible. These and other ideas for the adventure day have been developed by the Palatinate Wine Association and its partners - the State Forests of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Biosphere Reserve Natural Park Palatinate Forest and the Foundation for Nature and Environment of Rhineland-Palatinate. The 32nd adventure day will be opened in Bad Dürkheim.

Wildbratwurst is to be served at as many stations as possible along the more than 80-kilometre route of the longest wine festival in the Palatinate. Pfalzwein wants to call on the municipalities and other channels to offer as much of this game speciality as possible. "We hope that as many as possible of the butchers and the petrol stations along the route will report their sales of wild bratwurst to us," is the organisers' idea. "Then we can at least calculate how long the wild bratwurst that was eaten that day would have been". Even if it's not about an entry in the Guinness Book of Records - Landesforsten and the hunters' association would like to use the Wildbratwurst Record to draw attention to the fact that there are also many possibilities for using game meat during the summer barbecue season.

Information on the lynx project is planned as well as stations with the topics mountain biking or trekking. "Wine and forest are closely connected along the Wine Route - we want to demonstrate this in many ways on this day of experience," said Edwin Schrank, Chairman of the Palatinate Wine Association. To illustrate this, some points along the route are marked by flags and large-format photos. Here, eye-catching picture frames are intended to direct the eye to forest villages on the edge of the Haardtrand, where, for example, the "wild forest" or primeval overnight accommodation places can be authentically experienced or where the lynx roams through the forest. In addition, guided tours to core zones of the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve, which are within sight of the Wine Route, would be offered by appointment: "You can get to know the primeval forest of tomorrow," said Martin Grünebaum of Landesforsten Rheinland-Pfalz. Detailed planning for the adventure day is currently still underway.

The event day is organized by the Palatinate Wine Advertising Agency and the towns and communities along the German Wine Route.
