In the world's largest Burgundy competition, the Concours Mondial des Pinots 2018, the 2015 Pinot Noir "In the Sunshine" from the Wilhelmshof Wine and Sparkling Wine Estate in Siebeldingen (Palatinate) took first place. 1100 wines of the Burgundy grape varieties were tasted by 361 wine producers from 21 countries by an international jury. Only eight of them received the coveted "Great Gold" award. The 2015 Wilhelmshof Pinot Noir "Im Sonnenschein" was judged "Best Pinot" of the competition and was thus chosen as the winner of the overall competition.

The Concour Mondial des Pinots is considered the world's most prestigious and largest wine competition for Burgundy grape varieties and was held in Switzerland for the 21st time in 2018. All wines are produced under the competition guidelines and under the control of the O.I.V. (l'Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin) and the U.S.O.E. (Swiss Union of Oenologists). Besides the Wilhelmshof, two other German wine producers from the Kaiserstuhl were able to achieve "Great Gold" for their Pinot Blanc wines: The Bickensohler Weinvogtei in Vogtsburg-Bickensohl and the Winzergenossenschaft Bötzingen am Kaiserstuhl.
