The German Winery Award 2018 for the most customer-friendly company in the wine industry goes this year to the Riffel Winery from Bingen (Rheinhessen). At the award ceremony in Frankfurt, the winery was named the best of the 87 participating companies. According to the jury, the owner family Riffel has realised all elements of the external presentation - whether homepage, online shop, vinotheque, product design or architecture - "consistently customer-oriented and with attention to detail".

In addition to Riffel, two other businesses were honoured. In the group of producer associations, WeinKonvent Dürrenzimmern convinced with style, value and an on-site experience that is competitive with wineries. According to the jury, the Lang Winery from Hergenfeld on the Nahe can also be considered exemplary. With its presentation, it is a "role model for all those family wineries that want to convey fun and trust to their customers on their own and without a large investment".

At the German Winery Award, all factors of a winery are evaluated by the jury - with the exception of the wine. All evaluations and expert opinions are prepared by students of the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences. Their evaluation is based on 180 criteria from ten subject areas. These include, for example, media design, architecture and on-site sales rooms, the structure and design of the product range, the preparation of the offer as well as the interaction of personal values with the communication policy.
