The winery Matthias Hey has been accepted into the VDP Sachsen/Saale-Unstrut. Sigrun and Reinhard Hey founded the business near Naumburg between Roßbach and Bad Kösen with almost five hectares of vineyards in 2001. Their son Matthias studied oenology in Geisenheim, worked in Italy and took over the estate in 2007. The vineyards are all located on the steep slopes of the "Naumburger Steinmeister" site. Matthias Hey focuses on spontaneous fermentation and long maceration. Apart from him as the 202nd VDP member, only the producers Pawis and Lützkendorf still come from the Saale-Unstrut growing region.
