Moët Hennessy, a wine, champagne and spirits company belonging to the luxury group LVMH, has announced that it will keep its producers' production herbicide-free until 2021. Its portfolio includes Dom Perignon, Krug, Ruinart, Cheval Blanc and Château d'Yquem. A statement says that robots and special electrical machines for special tasks in the vineyard have been purchased for the conversion.
In addition, Moët Hennessy wants to set up a research centre for sustainable and environmentally friendly grape production in Champagne for around 20 million euros. The company also wants to support grape growers supplying the world's wineries in obtaining certification for sustainable cultivation.
