In Brittany, initiatives to revitalise viticulture are multiplying. As the French newspaper Le Parisien reports, projects are already underway in four départements of the region, including the Rhyus and Quiberon peninsulas.
According to Le Parisien, global warming and a change in legislation mean that vines can now be grown in the northwest of France. Wine production was prohibited in Brittany until 1 January 2016, although vine growing was already practised in the region in the Middle Ages. However, the vines fell victim to phylloxera and grain cultivation. In the future, Breton white, red and sparkling wines will be available again.
