The Palatinate wine event "Wein am Dom" in Speyer on 18 and 19 April 2020 has been cancelled due to the corona eruption. This was announced by the two organizers, Pfalzwein e.V. and the Chamber of Agriculture of Rhineland-Palatinate. "We also want to contribute to slowing down the spread of the corona virus. Therefore, care and responsibility demand that an event with almost 4000 visitors in closed rooms be cancelled," said Boris Kranz, the 1st chairman of Pfalzwein, in a press release. However, postponing the event until autumn was not an alternative: "In view of the completely unpredictable further development, an alternative date cannot be realistically planned, and in late summer and autumn our wineries will be going about their work, winegrowing," said Kranz.
Those who have already purchased a ticket will be reimbursed until 30 June 2020. According to the organisers, ticket holders should "turn to the same place where they bought the ticket". All sales facilities were informed and took care of the refund. However, the tickets will lose their validity after 30 June 2020 and cannot be used for the coming year. Pfalzwein e.V. will now start planning the wine presentation for next year earlier than before. "Wein am Dom" is scheduled to take place on 10 and 11 April 2021.
