The traditional election of the German Wine Queen will again take place in Neustadt an der Weinstraße this year. The German Wine Institute (DWI), the SWR, the city of Neustadt and those responsible for the wine growing areas have agreed on this. Due to the restrictions imposed by Corona, Baden, Franconia, Middle Rhine, Nahe and Saale-Unstrut will forgo a candidate, and the reigning regional wine queens will extend their term of office by one year.

This year, all candidates are directly qualified for the final. The preliminary decision, in which the jury selects six candidates for the final, will this time be replaced by a professional survey, which can be followed via livestream on the Internet.

The final on 25 September will again be broadcast live from the Neustadter Saalbau by SWR Fernsehen. Holger Wienpahl will again be the moderator. According to the current status, however, the show will probably have to do without an enthusiastic audience due to the applicable hygiene guidelines, DWI announced.
