The champagne company Vranken-Pommery presented a British sparkling wine for the first time. The "Louis Pommery England Brut" has been produced in the same way as a champagne and consists of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. It is part of a cooperation of Vranken-Pommery with the wine producer Hattingley Valley in Hampshire. According to the British magazine "Harpers", the group will also start planting a 32 hectare vineyard for sparkling wine production this year. All the vines should be planted out in May 2019.

According to "Harpers", the sales start of the champagne, which costs around 35 euros in Great Britain, is also the beginning of a new sparkling wine category. This is because several strong competitors with large vineyard areas are currently investing a lot of money in vineyards and plantations. The number of newly planted vines in 2018 should therefore be as large as the entire British stock last year.

Whether and when the "England Brut" will be available in Germany is currently unknown.
