The Viennese wine fair Vievinum (9-11 June) is celebrating its 20th anniversary and is arousing more interest than ever before: According to the organizer ÖWM, for the first time more than 1,000 merchants, sommeliers, restaurateurs and journalists from 45 countries will come to Austria's largest wine fair at the Vienna Hofburg. The majority of the trade visitors come from main export markets such as Germany, the USA, Switzerland and Russia, but more than 100 wine consultants from a large Belgian supermarket chain and representatives of emerging export markets from Asia and South America will also follow the call from Wien. More than half of the trade visitors visit VieVinum for the first time at the invitation of ÖWM.

With the qualitatively and quantitatively very satisfactory 2017 vintage, the Austrian winegrowers know that they have the advantage in a European comparison. The fact that wine from Austria is obviously interesting for the international public promises additional dynamics in the initiation of business, as the record export figures from 2017 prove: Last year, the 150 million euro mark was exceeded for the first time, and the average price of wine reached a new all-time high of 3.39 euros per litre.
