Axa Millésimes, the wine company of the French insurance group Axa, has acquired the top Portuguese winery Quinta do Passadouro. It operates in the Douro Valley with 36 hectares of vineyards in Pinhão and Roncão. The operation is to be integrated into the company of the well-known Portuguese port wine estate Quinta do Noval, which has been owned by Axa Millésimes for a number of years, bringing the total area under cultivation in Portugal to 145 hectares. The winemaking team is to be retained, as is the name of the winery.

Quinta do Passadouro was previously owned by the Bohrmann family, who founded it 25 years ago. They own the Bohrmann domain in Burgundy with several farms in Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard and Gevrey-Chambertin. The purchase price is not known.
