The producers of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG have set a sales record in 2019. This was announced by those responsible in a video conference. According to the report, 92.1 million bottles were sold last year, 1.6 percent more than in 2018, while sales rose by only 1.2 percent. Of these, around 50 million bottles were sold in Germany. DOCG Prosecci prices rose by 1.1 percent to an average of 5.94 euros per bottle, while sales fell by 6.8 percent. Exports, on the other hand, had risen by 17.2 percent.

Surprisingly, Great Britain has become the most important export market: 12.7 million bottles went there, which is an increase of 99.9 percent. In Germany, the second most important market, the number of bottles sold rose by 1.7 percent to 6.75 million. Customers there had also accepted higher prices: they spent 7.5 percent more on DOCG sparkling wines than in 2018. Switzerland came in third place, followed by the USA and Austria.
