Sales of Lugana DOC white wine from Lake Garda in 2019 rose by 27 percent to 22 million bottles compared to the previous year. This was announced by the "Consorzio per la Tutela del Lugana". According to this, 70 percent of the bottled wines were exported, primarily to Germany and the USA. In addition, the producers were able to implement significant price increases: According to the figures, the Lugana DOC achieves an average price of eight euros with a 35.7 percent increase in value. This is the highest of all Italian white wines. Due to the high customs duties in the USA, sales there rose by only 15 percent. Despite the difficult political situation, those responsible there intend to invest massively in marketing and presentations.
