The Kaiserstuhl VDP winegrower and hotelier Fritz Keller is to become the new president of the German Football Association (DFB). This was announced by the association. The DFB's selection committee for the office of president unanimously proposed Keller to the regional and state associations and the German Soccer League DFL as the only candidate.
The 62-year-old winemaker has also been president of the Bundesliga club FC Freiburg since 2014. Keller has been running his family's VDP vineyard in the third generation since 1990, building up a renowned import for Bordeaux and Burgundy and running the star restaurant "Schwarzer Adler". It is not yet known who will continue to run the winery after his election on 27 September 2019.
