On September 23rd, the VDP-Winery Gut Hermannsberg (Nahe) will auction off a bottle of 1921 Trockenbeerenauslese from the legendary 1921 vintage of the former Prussian wine domain Niederhausen Schlossböckelheim. The wine is stored in the treasure chamber of the winery in Niederhausen. On the bottle there is a banderole on the neck of the bottle with the inscription: "Served to the President of the Reich General Field Marshal von Hindenburg at the liberation celebration in Cologne on March 21, 1926 as a drink of honour" The wine was harvested at 308 degrees Oechsle. Two years ago, estate manager Karsten Peter re-corked it and was surprised by the fresh, complex condition of the wine. On Sunday, 23 September 2018, the rarity will be auctioned at 11 am in the Römerhalle Bad Kreuznach.

According to Gut Hermannsberg, it is to be expected that this bottle could reach a new auction record. A Trockenbeerenauslese of the 2015 vintage reached a hammer price of 10,600 euros in 2017, the highest price since the auctions of the VDP's predecessor institution began in 1910.
