At the annual general meeting of the VDP, the delegates rejuvenated the executive committee. With a clear majority, Association President Steffen Christmann was re-elected for the fourth time for another three years. However, Armin Diel (Nahe) and Paul Fürst (Franconia) have retired from the VDP Presidium after twelve years of supra-regional association work, having handed over responsibility for their wineries. With the election of Meike Näkel (Meyer-Näkel Winery, Ahr) and Moritz Haidle (Karl Haidle Winery, Württemberg) to the seven-member VDP presidium, the younger generation has been integrated into the work of the association.

The general meeting also confirmed Joachim Heger (Winery Dr. Heger), Reinhard Löwenstein (Winery Heymann-Löwenstein), Wilhelm Weil (Winery Robert Weil) and Philipp Wittmann (VDP.Winery Wittmann) as members of the presidium.

For Steffen Christmann, "positive support for the new wine law in Germany" is currently on the agenda, which for the first time establishes the origins as a quality benchmark. The VDP has "already paved the way for this for over two decades with its classification". He also intends to develop his own sustainability standard for the almost 200 wineries.
