Hawesko Holding AG has acquired 100 per cent of the shares in Wein & Co Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H. The Hawesko Group is thus supplementing its wholesale activities in Austria with a high-quality brand in the end-customer business and, according to its own statements, is increasing the share of sales generated by its foreign business from around nine to around 16 per cent.

"Hawesko and Wein & Co - it simply fits together. A strong position in their respective markets, exciting, future-oriented concepts and a passion for wine. For us, the takeover of Wein & Co is an important strategic milestone," explains Thorsten Hermelink, Chairman of the Board of Management of Hawesko Holding AG. Wein & Co will be retained as an independent brand within the Hawesko Group.

Heinz Kammerer, founder of Wein & Co, is withdrawing from day-to-day business according to Hawesko information, but will continue to play an active role in the company as a consultant. Thorsten Hermelink welcomed the fact that Heinz Kammerer, with his know-how and his connections in the Austrian wine industry, will continue to support the reorientation he has initiated.

Together, Hawesko and the management of Wein & Co intend to further develop the brand, position it for the future and exploit the international expansion and e-commerce potential of Wein & Co.
