The supermarket chains Edeka and Rewe are the most frequently used retailers for wine purchases in Germany. This is the result of the study "Wine Shopper Report Germany" by the German Wine Institute. According to the report, the discounters Aldi and Lidl are in third and fourth place for wine purchases. In the analysis of wine retailers, Jacques' wine depot currently ranks first in Germany. This is followed by Metro's Cash&Carry stores, with Hawesko in third place.

According to the study, Germany is currently the second most attractive wine market in the world after the USA. Despite current fluctuations, the study classifies the wine volume on the German wine market as "relatively stable overall".
