The EU Commission for Agriculture expects wine consumption in Europe to fall by almost three percent in 2030. According to figures from a comprehensive forecast by the Commission on the development of agriculture in the EU, wine consumption in 2012 was 25.9 litres per year and inhabitant, and 25.3 litres in 2019. By 2030, consumption could fall to 24.5 litres according to the figures.

According to the study, less red wine is currently consumed every year, while consumption of white, rosé and sparkling wines is actually increasing slightly.

Wine production, on the other hand, is expected to remain almost the same: Experts expect the volume in 2030 to be 0.5 percent lower than in 2019.
