At the twelfth Franconian Wine Gala in Würzburg's "Vogel Convention Center", the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry, through Minister of State Helmut Brunner, awarded four wineries the State Prize of Honour for "outstanding achievements in the Franconian Wine Awards".

This prize is awarded to the winery that has achieved the best award quota in its size category over the past three years and thus has the highest proportion of award-winning wines in its total production. With this award, the ministry wants to honour "the consistent striving for quality over many years" that distinguishes a top winery.

The Bavarian State Prizes of Honour for 2017 were awarded to

BarthWinery (Iphofen)
Prize winners for winegrowing enterprises with up to 5 hectares of vineyard area

Clemens Fröhlich Winery (Escherndorf)
Winners from 5 to 15 hectares of vineyard area

Winery Horst Sauer (Escherndorf)
