In the coming days, the St. Emilion Wine Growers' Association intends to present the first proposals for changes to the classification. The new rules should come into force in the summer of 2022 and be reviewed again in 2032. The "Institut National de l'Origine et de la qualité" (INAO) will present its proposals for the first time to the supervisory board of the winegrowers' association on 28 January. On February 6th the responsible persons of the AOC St.Emilion will be informed about it.

After debates in several other organisations, the work will be passed on to a classification commission in June 2020, which will also decide on the classification of the wineries. The weight of the wine tasting will be given more weight. This time, the rating is to be 50 percent instead of the 35 percent that has applied so far.
