The six finalists for the election of the 70th German Wine Queen have been determined. This was announced by the German Wine Institute (DWI) in a press release.

Franziska Aatz from Baden, Pauline Baumberger from the Nahe, Carolin Klöckner from Württemberg, Tatjana Schmidt from the Rheingau, Inga Storck from the Palatinate and Klara Zehnder from Franconia will compete in the final round on Friday, September 28, at 8:15 p.m. in the Saalbau in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. This will be broadcast live on SWR television.

In the preliminary round, twelve candidates presented themselves to the 70-strong jury and over 800 spectators in the Saalbau in Neustadt. They answered challenging specialist wine questions, some of them in English, exposed the mistakes built into "Wine News" and proved their quick-wittedness and eloquence in various quick guessing rounds. "All the candidates mastered the specialist survey well and brought complex issues to the point in a competent, understandable and concise manner," praised Monika Reule, Managing Director of DWI, which organizes the annual election. "We are now looking forward to an exciting final."

The new German Wine Queen will represent wine from the German wine-growing regions for one year at around 200 events at home and abroad.
