The vines in the French Cahors growing region have again been severely damaged by heavy night frost. According to Pascal Verhaeghe, head of regional wine promotion, the night from 5 to 6 May cooled down to temperatures of -4 to -6 degrees. About 3,500 hectares of vineyards were affected. About 60 to 70 percent of the expected harvest was destroyed. In April, 300 hectares of vineyards had already been destroyed by hail. This is the third crop failure in six years, he complained. During the late spring frost last year, about 80 percent of the grapes had been destroyed.
