The renowned Burgundy winery Jayer Gilles in Magny-lès-Villers (Côte de Nuits) has been taken over by Swiss billionaire André Hoffmann. Hoffmann is a board member and co-owner of the pharmaceutical group Hoffmann-La-Roche. Nothing has been disclosed about the purchase price, reports La Revue du Vin de France.

The Domaine Jayer Gilles with twelve hectares of vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges and Echézeaux had been in the hands of Gilles Jayer-Gilles since 1998. He had been working for the winery since 1982. Especially with his Pinot Noir wines from the Echezeaux Grand Cru vineyards, Jayer Gilles gained a very good reputation.

Nothing has been revealed about the future of Gilles Jayer-Gilles at the winery after the purchase. For the time being, he will continue the work, but will possibly be replaced by two young winemakers.
