The well-known Tuscan wine company Ruffino has purchased 144 hectares of certified organic vineyards in the Veneto. About two thirds of the vineyards belong to the DOC Prosecco, one third to Pinot Grigio. This is the largest sale in the Prosecco production area to date. The bottling company Casa Vinicola Botter has sold the areas. The purchase price is not known; according to media reports, it should be around 30 to 40 million euros.

Ruffino currently owns six wineries in Tuscany. The company has also been producing Prosecco and Pinot Grigio for some time. Last year, the company achieved a turnover of 106 million euros with around 26 million bottles. The export share is 93 percent.
