The Rotkäppchen-Mumm Sektkellereien GmbH in Freyburg (Unstrut) takes over the wine and spirits importer Eggers & Franke Group from Bremen. The cartel office still has to approve the purchase.

The Eggers & Franke Group with its four subsidiaries Ludwig von Kapff, Reidemeister & Ulrichs, Eggerssohn as well as Ruyter & Ast "will continue to operate independently in the market under the leadership of the previous management team", according to a press release by Rotkäppchen-Mumm. Christoph Meier, the owner of Eggers & Franke, will "accompany the development under the new owner in an advisory capacity".

The parties involved have agreed not to disclose further details of the transaction and the purchase price. Eggers & Franke is currently the fourth largest wine distribution company in Germany with annual sales of 178 million euros (2017). Eggers & Franke handles almost 70 percent of its business with supermarket chains.

The portfolio of the Eggers & Franke Group includes Marqués de Riscal, Piper Heidsieck, Esporao, Leitz, Teruzzi & Puthod, Frescobaldi and M. Chapoutier, as well as Golden Kaan, KWV and Yellow Tail.
