The Burgundy Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) has leased almost three hectares of plots planted with Chardonnay in the Grand Cru vineyard Corton-Charlemagne. The area belongs to the Domaine Bonneau du Martray. This was reported by the British Wine Spectator. According to the report, DRC plans to harvest there for the first time next year after a few changes in cultivation.
The owners of the biodynamically working Domaine Bonneau du Martray had been looking for a partner for their area of almost eleven hectares in the world-famous vineyard, because precise biodynamic cultivation on such a large area is a huge effort.
DRC already produces a Chardonnay in Corton, which it has leased from the Domaine Prince Florent de Mérode. The white top wine of DRC is Le Montrachet.
