At the general meeting of Moselwein e.V. a few days ago, the Mosel wine growing president Rolf Haxel was confirmed as chairman. The winegrower from Cochem has been running the association for image and sales promotion since 2012 and his new deputy is Henning Seibert from the Moselle country cooperative. Thomas Ludwig from Thörnich was re-elected as second deputy, as were Gerd Knebel from Winningen and Matthias Walter from Wincheringen for the board of directors. Andreas Barth from Niederfell, manager of the von Othegraven winery and owner of the Lubentiushof, and Stefanie Vornhecke from Senheim are new to the board. Peter Lauer from Ayl and Anna Reimann from Kanzem did not stand for election.

In addition, the members unanimously approved the budget for 2018, which provides for income and expenditure amounting to 1.35 million euros. According to the association, around 400,000 euros are earmarked for trade fair appearances, area presentations and other events; around 300,000 euros are earmarked for advertising, internet, press and public relations. In addition, advertising material and sales promotion will cost about 150,000 euros. The costs for personnel and operation of the office are 360,000 euros.

About half of the income comes from the statutory wine advertising taxes. The other half, according to the association's own information, is generated from the contributions of its 1,157 members, from events and sales revenues as well as from subsidies from EU support programmes.
