The Rheingau Winegrowers' Association is changing its evaluation system for the award of gold, silver and bronze medals to the international 100-point scheme. In the past months, a working group has worked out proposals for the conversion from the 5-point system to the new scheme.

According to these proposals, in addition to smell, taste and harmony, an additional evaluation of colour and the typicality of wines and sparkling wines will be introduced. In addition, a category for "premium wines" will be introduced, in which "first growths", "great growths" and other premium wines with site designation can be registered and evaluated in a group. Rheingau would be the first German wine-growing region to switch to the 100-point scheme.
