The large winery Reh Kendermann in Bingen closed the past business year with positive figures. The company announced this at its annual press conference. The 2017/2018 financial year was characterised by the 2017 vintage with the smallest harvest in years. Nevertheless, sales rose by 5.7 percent to 79.5 million euros, and the sales volume also increased by 3.2 percent to 38.3 million litres.

In Germany, 55 percent of the wine produced was sold, 45 percent was exported. According to the figures, the three Reh Kendermann subsidiaries together contributed around 10 million euros to sales. They are the Carl Reh Winery in Romania and Napier Vineyards in South Africa. The export business recorded a 4 per cent drop in turnover, whereas in Germany turnover increased by 9 per cent.

The most important wine brand in Reh Kendermann's portfolio is "Black Tower", which includes almost a dozen wines, sparkling wines and bag-in-boxes. They are labelled as "Wine from the EU" and with the indication of origin "Germany" and are only sold abroad. With 13 million bottles sold, it is the most successful German wine brand worldwide, said export director Alison Fleming.

In Germany, Reh Kendermann is represented in Bingen as well as with cellar sites in Leiwen (Mosel), Gau-Bickelheim (Rheinhessen) and Böchingen (Pfalz). The company employs around 250 people worldwide, 130 of whom work in Bingen.
