The vine blossom is coming to an end in the German wine-growing regions these days. According to the German Wine Institute (DWI), this means that the average flowering period is now around 30 years.

As it takes around 100 days for the grapes to be ready for harvest after blossoming, harvesting is expected to begin this year from mid-September, which is considerably later than in the very early 2018 vintage. Riesling grapes are currently not expected to reach harvest maturity until the end of September.

All in all, the flowering of the vines has been good this year. Thanks to good fruit set, the yield outlook for the 2019 vintage is promising.
