The well-known southern French winery Château Bas near Aix-en-Provence has been sold to the family holding company of entrepreneur Catherine Castéja. She owns several châteaux in Bordelais, including Batailley and Trotte Vieille as well as trading companies. The winery in the Coteaux d'Aix en Provence region owns 370 hectares of vineyards, 75 of which are organically cultivated. Mainly Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Counoise are cultivated, as well as the white wine varieties Grenache blanc, Rolle, Sauvignon Blanc and Ugni blanc. In addition, the Château is a well-known tourist destination with a Roman temple on its grounds. The operation is to be run independently of the other estates of the holding. The purchase price is not known.
