According to local media reports, the Italian wine and prosecco producer Casa Vinicola Botter from the Veneto region took over the Serena Wines winery from Conegliano in 1881. Serena owns eight wine and prosecco brands in Italy and one operation in Champagne. Botter owns more than a dozen wineries with more than 1,500 hectares of vineyards.
This creates a new giant in the Prosecco business: Botter achieved sales of around 217 million euros in 2019, while Serena Wines achieved sales of just over 80 million euros in the 2018 financial year.
