The well-known Australian red wine producer Penfolds has presented three champagnes in cooperation with the renowned champagne house Thiénot to celebrate its 175th anniversary. The base wines of the cuvées from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well as of the two Grand Cru champagnes, a Blanc de Blancs from Avize as well as a Blanc de Noirs from Ay, originate from the excellent 2012 vintage. Penfolds' well-known winemaker Peter Gago collaborated with the Thiénot oenologist Nicolas Uriel in the conception and the cuveage, the wine estate announced. The wine for the dosage was matured in Yattarna barriques from Australia to create a symbolic link between the estates.

The cooperation is the first joint work between wineries from Champagne and Australia.

According to Penfolds, the 0.75l bottles will be available from June and cost around 175 euros each. Magnum and double magnum bottles have also been filled.
