Ecologically and sustainably produced wines have become mainstream worldwide. This was determined by the "Sola Report" of the British industry opinion research institute "Wine Intelligence". "Sola" stands for "sustainable, organic, lower-alcohol and alternative wine". According to the study, organic wines, which were once ridiculed, are highly regarded by around 250 million wine drinkers in eleven countries. This corresponds to the global image gain of organically produced food.

The study examined twelve alternatively produced types of wine and their reputation among consumers. For the second time, classic organic wines are in first place, closely followed by wines from sustainable and environmentally friendly production. For the head of the study, Emily Carroll, the result proves a "fundamental change in the attitudes of wine connoisseurs, led by the young generation". Wine producers are challenged to ensure more ethical responsibility and transparency in production". Young people are much more concerned with their bodies and health than previous generations. They are also willing to pay more money for cleanly produced wines.

Surprisingly, biodynamically produced wines as well as natural wines and orange wines dropped significantly in consumer favour in the study. They occupy the last places this year.
