The Miguel Torres winery in Chile, with around 400 hectares of vineyards, has appointed Eduardo Jordán from Maipo as its new technical director. He had previously worked for 16 years as the second winemaker for the De Martino winery. He replaces Fernando Almeda, who started his career over 30 years ago with Torres in Spain and moved to Chile three years later.
At the start, he produced around 50,000 cases of wine with 25 employees, he recalls. Today, more than 200 people worked for the winery, which now produced 600,000 crates of 35 different wines, some of which were made from old, indigenous grape varieties.
