Carlos Falcó, owner of the renowned Spanish winery Marqués de Griñón, has died at the age of 83 from the consequences of infection with the Covid 19 virus. He was considered one of the pioneers of modern Spanish viticulture. Initially he studied engineering and after the death of his grandfather he took over responsibility for Marqués de Griñón from 1955.

Falcó also studied viticulture at the University of California in Davis and began to continually modernise his winery. To this end, he engaged prestigious consultants such as Michel Rolland and was one of the initiators of the "Vinos de Pago" classification in 2003.
