Denis Durantou, partner of the Bordeaux-Château L'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol has died at the age of 62 years. He had been considered one of the most influential winemakers of the Bordeaux region for over 30 years. He took over his family vineyard at the beginning of the 1980s. Due to his work, the estate with 4.5 ha soon belonged to the top estates of the Pomerol. In the course of the following years he bought Château Les Cruzelles as well as La Chenade in Lalande-de-Pomerol and Château Montlandrie in Castillon, established the neighbouring La Petite Eglise as well as Château Saintayme, which produces with leased vineyards in St-Emilion. Durantou was one of the few owners of the region to act as field manager for all the châteaux and as winemaker. He leaves behind his wife Marie Reilhac and three daughters.
