The harvest in Beaujolais will be about 25 less than in 2018 due to the difficult weather conditions, according to the Inter Beaujolais Wine Growers' Association. According to the association, winegrowers expect less than 600,000 hl, compared to 800,000 hl last year. The reasons are frosts in April, a massive heat wave with daytime temperatures of more than 40 degrees Celsius and severe drought in summer, as well as several hailstorms a few days ago. In some regions of Beaujolais, up to 50 percent of the harvest was destroyed, some winegrowers even suffered 75 percent losses. In addition, the vines were not able to fully recover due to the massive drought last year.
