The renowned VDP vineyard Kartäuserhof in Trier has acquired the five hectare, historic monopoly Waldracher Laurentiusberg in the Ruwer Valley from the estate management foundation vineyards of the Langguth family. The vineyard was planted in 1899 by the J.W. Huesgen winery. Today, its areas are cultivated and managed by the foundation vineyards.

The 2018 harvest in the Laurentiusberg will be the first for which the Carthusian farm will be responsible. In addition, the VDP traditional estate has purchased one hectare in the Mertesdorfer Herrenberg and is preparing two more hectares of land in the Karthäuserhofberg for replanting.

According to information from the blog "Mosel Fine Wines" by Jean Fisch and David Rayer, several well-known wineries in the region are said to have bid on the sale of the vineyard. Nothing is known about the purchase price.
