The British wine critic Jancis Robinson has presented her own glass collection. She developed it together with the designer Richard Brendon from London. The "1 Collection" consists of a single glass, which Robinson says is equally suitable for red, rosé and white wines, a water glass and two carafes. The very thin glasses are supposed to be dishwasher safe.

During discussions about the concept of the series, she insisted that she wanted to develop only one wine glass for all types of wine. "I never understood why white wine glasses should be narrower than those for red wine, she explained. White wines could develop just as many aromatic nuances as red wines. Therefore, she had been looking for a glass that was equally suitable for these purposes for a long time - but had not found one. "We were looking for the perfect wine glass," she said. The "1" is also equally suitable for sparkling wines, champagne and sherry, she said.

The pair designed the water glass in the series with the same goblet dimensions as the wine glass, so it is just as suitable for wine. One carafe is designed for developing young wines, the other for decanting the sediment of old wines.

The glasses will be available from 2 July, initially at Harrods department stores' and online on Richard Brendon's website. They are not cheap, however: two glasses cost 70 British pounds, the equivalent of about 80 euros. Six glasses are available for 200 pounds, currently around 228 euros. The water glasses cost 50 pounds, or 57 euros, in a set of two.
