Wine production in Europe is significantly lower with the 2019 vintage than in 2018: according to current figures from the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), the yield in Spain is 34.3 million hl, almost a quarter less than in the previous year; in Italy and France the decline is 15 percent, in Germany 12 percent. The exception is Portugal: due to more favourable weather conditions than in the rest of Europe, production here rose by eleven percent compared to 2018, four percent more than the five-year average. According to the OIV, the 2019 global yield is eleven percent lower than in the previous year.
