Organically produced wine is becoming more and more popular in France. The market research institute OpinionWay, commissioned by the French state agency Agence Bio, has found out that 48 percent of French wine buyers would like to see a wider range of products from their shops and supermarkets. According to the figures, French goods and businesses currently sell organic wine worth more than 1.5 billion euros. Demand has risen massively, especially in wholesalers and supermarkets. In 2018 they sold 23 percent more organically produced wine than in 2017.

At present, 94,000 hectares of vineyards in France are being cultivated organically or are in conversion, which is about twelve percent of the cultivated area. In 2018, the size of the areas under conversion had increased by 63 percent compared to 2017.
