The French wine group "Les Grands Chais de France" (LCGF) has taken over the German winery Binderer St. Ursula with its headquarters in Munich and a production facility in Bingen. With a production of over 60 million bottles per year, the Binderer group of companies is one of the largest wine bottlers in Germany. It mainly distributes wines from France, Italy, Spain and Hungary. LCGF is one of the largest companies in the wine industry worldwide.

It was founded in 1979 by Joseph Helfrich in Petersbach in Alsace. The LGCF Group employs around 2200 people in its companies and achieved a turnover of 930 million euros in 2015. The wines produced at LCGF are exported to 165 countries around the world. Its best-known brand is the "J.P. Chenet", developed in 1991. According to the company, it has become the best-selling French brand wine worldwide. In 2008, it already took over the German winery Racke in Mainz-Hechtsheim with its branded wines Amselfelder, Amselkeller, Bongeronde and Viala.

There had long been speculation in the industry about a possible takeover. Nothing has become known about the purchase price. However, the sale still has to be approved by the cartel authorities.
