The Spanish wine and sherry company González Byass in Jerez has taken over Bodegas Fournier (Ribera del Duero) with 80 hectares of vineyards. This was announced by the company, which is one of the largest wine producers in Spain with seven estates and cellars as well as the sherry bodega Tio Pepe. In 2018 the annual turnover was around 297 million euros. No information was given on the purchase price.

The Ortega Fournier family has owned the renowned winery in Berlangas de Roa since 2002, including vineyards in Argentina and Chile, which have apparently not been sold. On approximately 50 hectares of Bodegas Fournier in the Duero, the Tempranillo vines are 30 to 70 years old. González Byass is now represented in the ten most important Spanish D.O., the company announced.
