The sherry producer González Byass has presented the "Pio X", a wine produced before the phylloxera disaster. The sweet wine, named after Pope Pius X, dates from around 1850 to 1860 and is available in a quantity of 100 bottles, each of which costs around 1100 euros. The remaining 20 bottles of the barrel remain in the family possession. Half of it, that is 50 bottles, are to be sold in Great Britain.

According to González Byass, the wine was made from grapes of the now disappeared grape variety Moscatel Menudo Blanco and contains about nine percent alcohol. It has been stored in casks since the 19th century and has never been made into sherry. The producer emphasizes the long reverberation, balance and surprising freshness.
