Two years after the first edition, which was awarded the "Gourmand World Cookbook Award 2017" as the best German wine book, the second edition of "So kochen junge Winzer" has been published. In the "Generation Riesling" wine cookbook, around 60 young winemakers once again present their favourite recipes and recommend a matching wine from their current range. Compared to the first edition, the design of the second edition has been significantly improved and now also includes professional food photos that whet the appetite for the easy-to-make dishes.

Around 600 young German winemakers up to 35 years of age have joined forces in the "Generation Riesling". This makes the association, which was founded in 2006 by the German Wine Institute, the largest young winemakers' organisation in the world. The members are highly qualified, consistently quality-oriented and internationally experienced. They exchange ideas and present their wines - by no means only Riesling - at numerous events for the trade, gastronomy and media every year.

Among the contributors this time are also two former majesties: Laura Lahm from Rheinhessen was German Wine Princess 2017/2018, Julia Baltes (née Bertram) from the Ahr was German Wine Queen 2012/2013. The recipes are as diverse as the winemakers themselves and offer a broad spectrum - from simple meals for every day to refined festive feasts. The result is a colourful mix of meat, fish, vegetable and mushroom dishes, sometimes with an Asian or oriental touch: The variety ranges from salads, pasta, quiches and burgers to classics such as Wiener schnitzel and sauerbraten to unusual recipes such as saddle of venison with hazelnut crust or flambéed scallops with Riesling foam.

"So kochen junge Winzer" is a cookbook and wine book in one and gives an insight into wine culture and the typical cuisine of a region and even a winery. The contributing winemakers come from almost all domestic wine-growing regions and are listed in the book according to their origin. Each wine-growing region is briefly introduced at the beginning of the respective chapter; then the wineries appear in each case in the order of the recipe categories with their dish, their short portrait and their wine recommendation.

The modernly designed, richly illustrated book was published by Edition Graafmann & schreck in Erlangen and costs 24.90 euros.
